About us
Winehaus Bulldogs?!?
It sure seems like an unusual kennel name until you understand both of my passions - Bulldogs and Wine! In addition to showing and raising Bulldogs, I am running a small winery, The Tipsy Glass, in rural Indiana.
My history with bulldogs:
I got my first bulldog, Emma, in 2010. After my experience with her I fell in love with the breed, but also gained a deep appreciation for just how problematic the breed can be when irresponsibly bred. Emma was a puppymill-ish breeder reject at about 4-6 years old (seller never would provide her paperwork to verify her age). Rejected always either having stillborn pups or water pups - never any live puppies after several pregnancies. I got her about 4 months after her last c-section and the poor girl still had the staples in her belly! She had never been outside, didn't know what grass was, and was terrified to leave her crate. After many months of working with her she came out of her shell and was quite the lovable character. She lived with terrible skin, eye, and allergy problems her entire life though. She passed away way too young, passing quickly a few hours after she started to suddenly have seizures one day. She was what everyone thinks about bulldogs - sickly, lazy, smelly, with gross wrinkles.
My second bulldog, Stella, was much healthier and made me realize just how big of an impact breeding can have on the quality of a dog. Stella was the mother of the three bulldogs that first made up my small Brewhouse/Winehaus Bulldog kennel. We started showing in conformation in 2015. Two of Stella's puppies completed their AKC championship. In 2020 I branched out beyond conformation shows and started in AKC performance events with my bulldogs as well. We are having so much fun competing in new sports. We now earned titles in Scent Work, Fast Cat, CGC, Farm Dog, and Rally while still participating in conformation shows too. We love showing everyone what bulldogs can all do!
As for the wine, I am opened my winery in early 2017. Visit the other 1/2 of my world at TipsyGlassWinery.com
